In 2024, Fresh Arts reinvested $236k into the local arts economy through direct payments to Houston artists, including honoraria, contract services, and project-based fiscal sponsorship—nearly 40% of our operating budget!

Fresh Arts 2024 Impact Snapshot
- Fiscal Sponsorship: Supported 30 artist-led projects spanning theater, dance, zines, mural festivals, and more, helping raise over $270,000 for arts initiatives across Houston.
- Space Taking Artist Residency (STAR): Hosted two residency rounds featuring 14 events with exhibitions and public programs spotlighting 15 collaborating artists.
- Workshops and Professional Development: Offered 20 in-person and virtual workshops tailored to artist needs, including the 5th Fresh Arts Summit, which connected 120 creatives with 33 industry leaders through panels, hands-on workshops, dine-arounds, and mentorship opportunities.
- Artist INC Houston: Celebrated the 7th Artist INC cohort, an intensive eight-week seminar equipping 21 local artists to thrive in their careers, culminating in a showcase event reaching 200 people.
- Community Resource Sharing: Promoted over 1,000 local art events via the Art on Tap newsletter and social media and shared nearly 600 job listings, grants, residencies, and calls for entry through the Artist Opportunity Board and Resource Newsletter.
- Collaborative Partnerships: Partnered with organizations like the Midtown Cultural District to facilitate seven artist calls and served as an organizational partner with the BIPOC Arts Network and Fund (BANF) for their Cultural Treasures Accelerator Program, amplifying the work of local organizations and expanding opportunities for Houston artists.
Throughout the year, Fresh Arts, the managing partner of the district, organized 15 free Arts District events, exhibitions, performances, and community initiatives, fostering meaningful connections between local artists and the broader community. Key highlights from 2204 include:
- Introduced two vibrant new murals enriching the district’s public art offerings.
- Commissioned an award-winning art car by Kearin Cook
- Distributed 500 ADHou Mural Coloring Books to engage the community and promote local art.
- Hosted 15 public events, drawing over 1,700 attendees and fostering meaningful connections.
- Piloted Night Shift, a music performance series at the Fresh Arts office, creating a dynamic platform for local talent.
- Co-promoted more than 300 events, significantly amplifying the visibility and impact of local artists and cultural organizations within the district.
