Moments is an abstract dive into the thoughts and emotions of an African woman living in the United States. It is the pilot project of Femme: Through the Inner Eye of A Westernized African Girl: a multiphasic creative project which highlights female creatives of color and their unique perspectives on life and social issues across the globe. Moments takes an experimental approach to Afro dance by merging it with technology and other art forms to explore the fragments of daily life, memories, challenges, and internal dialogues that capture the essence of what it means to be black, female, and influenced by multiple cultures. With a singular perspective, Moments seeks to present an important viewpoint for us to connect, relate with, and use as a catalyst for which we study ourselves: our weaknesses, strengths, points of pain, and warmth.
Moments is a sponsored project of Fresh Arts, a nonprofit arts service organization, and is partially sponsored by the City of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance.
