About Make Music Day
Make Music Day is a free celebration of music around the world on Wednesday, June 21st. Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music Day is open to anyone wanting to participate. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — pours onto streets, parks, plazas, and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public.
Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries. Last year, 104 U.S. cities organized more than 3.8k free music-making events.
Since 2021, the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs (MOCA) has been coordinating the Make Music Day Houston celebration. Arts District Houston and Fresh Arts are honored to join Houston’s musical movement. Don’t miss out on this extraordinary event, as we bring the magic of Make Music Day to life right here in Arts District Houston!
