Experience a packed day of activities in the Arts District with us on Saturday, May 11th!
Kick off your morning with a Wellness Walk in First Ward led by Urban Paths from 9 am to 11 am. Then, groove to the tunes of a vibrant youth concert featuring the talented kids of Crockett Elementary from 11 am to 12 pm. Following that, join us for the farewell edition of The Market at Sawyer Yards from 12 pm to 5 pm, where artist Micah Salinas will lead an interactive community mural painting activity. And don’t miss Sawyer Yards’ Second Saturday Art Ramble, happening from 12 pm to 7 pm at various locations across the Sawyer Yards campus. Explore a world of artistic wonders as over 100 artists across six art studio buildings open their doors to showcase their creative brilliance!

Join Laura Conley from @urbanpaths for a 3-mile curated wellness walk in First Ward featuring the largest concentration of working artists in the neighborhood. After the walking tour, explore Sawyer Yards: stay for a drink, grab a meal, check out the Crockett Elementary concert, help paint the Arts District’s latest mural or check out Art Ramble, a full day of events happening in Sawyer Yards.

We invite you to come to Love Dance HTX for the annual Spring Kids Concert with Crockett Elementary, a performing and visual arts magnet school in the Arts District. Stop by and pick up a complimentary Arts District coloring book and get additional information about the Arts District. Afterwards, be sure to stop by The Market at Sawyer Yards and check out all the Art Ramble festivities at all the studio buildings in the Main Yard and North Yard. Second Saturday Art Ramble at Sawyer Yards

Sawyer Yards Art Ramble is back this spring! Walk into a world of artistic wonders as over 100 artists, across six incredible art studio buildings, open their doors. All are invited to step into a world of creativity as Art Ramble maps out the perfect day in Art District Houston. This walkable art event is designed to showcase the brilliance of local artists and encourage our community to engage with and purchase art at various price points, supporting the thriving art scene in Houston. As you ramble from building to building, studio to studio, indulge in the taste and sounds of more Houston creatives. Local drink vendors will pour their finest, while talented musicians fill the corridors with sounds for an all-encompassing celebration of art and community. Stay late for art exhibition receptions in multiple buildings.

“Pillars” Community Mural Painting + The Market at Sawyer Yards final event

Join us to help artist Micah Salinas paint her latest mural titled “Pillars,” honoring icons of the neighborhood local artists including Ruth Sosa Bailey, Tamra Pierce, Laura Lucas, Texas Johnny Boy, and David Maldanado. Find us in the train shed at Art Alley near Silver Street during Sawyer Yards’ Second Saturday Art Market. No RSVP necessary! Just come by and add your creative flair to the mural ($10 donations encouraged).
May 11th also marks the end of an era for the Market at Sawyer Yards. Hosted by local artist and arts market curator Mitch Cohen for the past eight years, this market features a diverse array of artist mediums, with an emphasis on folk art, artisan crafts, and packaged specialty foods, where the maker is the seller. Join us on Art Alley at Sawyer Yards for great shopping, eats, drinks, story telling and reminiscing.

Arts District Houston (formerly Washington Avenue Arts District) is one of seven state-appointed cultural arts districts in Houston. This colorful, urban, artist-centered community is situated in the city center along the Washington Avenue Corridor and touts the highest concentration of working artists in Texas.
