WELCOME TO ARTS DISTRICT HOUSTON
About Arts District Houston
Arts District Houston is home to Texas’s largest concentration of working artists and is a state-designated Cultural District located along the Washington Avenue Corridor. Located in Houston’s historic First and Sixth Wards, Arts District Houston is dedicated to building a vibrant and responsible creative economy while supporting artists, cultural organizations, and community spaces. AdHou is home to MECA, 4th Wall Theatre, FotoFest, and the Sawyer Yards creative campus with over 300 studios. From Art Alley at Sawyer Yards to installations at Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern, creativity flows through the District’s reimagined industrial spaces, businesses, and public places!
ARTS DISTRICT HOUSTON x FRESH ARTS
Arts District Houston is powered by Fresh Arts, a nonprofit that empowers local artists through accessible programs and resources. Fresh Arts has served as the managing entity of the district since 2017. Through funding from the Texas Commission on the Arts, Fresh Arts amplifies the district’s ability to serve artists and the greater community through artist-centered public art projects and initiatives. These initiatives help build capacity, audiences, and shared resources for the artists and creative businesses that compose the district and create new opportunities to showcase the diversity of Houston-area artists.
