On December 17, 2025, Fresh Arts gathered with guests in the Winter Street Studios Gallery to celebrate the end of the year, showcase the work of talented alumni from one of our most popular flagship programs, raise funds to support its next cohort, and tease what else is coming next. What followed was a very special evening of meaningful celebrations and connections amongst the local artist community that went beyond our expectations.
Fresh Arts has powered Artist INC (a program of Mid America Arts Alliance) in Houston since 2017 and every cohort of the past 8 years was represented at this event. Incredible visual artworks by over a dozen program graduates adorned the walls all around the space while live workshare presentations from many others brought the whole room together for moments of collective awe. The room filled with applause for the artist presentations throughout the night.
From the moment doors opened, the gallery buzzed with conversation. New friends from the more recent Artist INC Houston cohorts were abundant, while even more familiar folks from the program’s earlier years shared how meaningful it was to reconnect with members of their original cohorts and catch up while appreciating the work of their peers. This reinforced for us, the lasting impact of programs like Artist INC and the sense of belonging it continues to foster.
This event emphasized meaningful experiences and opportunities at every level—even at the Arts District Houston merch table! Arts District Houston, the state-designated cultural district that is managed by Fresh Arts and is home to our headquarters, debuted its brand new line of merchandise designed exclusively by local artists. The new line was met with an overwhelmingly positive response from the public and we sold a record number of units! One of the designers, Renee Martinez, even stopped by which made the premiere extra special as she witnessed the excitement in real time.
In addition to artistic experiences and gift shopping, the event also offered delicious specialty drinks made in house and delectable food catered by beloved Arts District business Coastline Pizzeria, which strengthened our local partnership and was an absolute hit with guests – especially the pesto pizza. The holiday card making station led by Autumn Mcllraith, local collage artist and 2022 Artist INC Houston Alum, was another fan favorite, remaining busy from open to close. Our decorated photobooth was also a standout, adding a playful touch that guests loved so much, a few even took balloons home with them.
Like any great end-of-year party, there were also lots of excited conversations about what’s coming up next. Yet another special highlight from the evening, was announcing to everyone that the Winter Street Studios Gallery is now officially Fresh Arts’ new semi-permanent home for programming—something we’ve been lacking for years! Guests expressed enthusiasm about the new space and how it will be activated, signaling strong interest in returning to engage with us for a new slate of Fresh Arts + Arts District Houston adventures in the new year.
With strong turnout, meaningful engagement, and joyful connection across the board, the gathering stood out as one of our most successful events of 2025—thanks to all the wonderful humans and vibrant creatives that shape this community.
