Cary Reeder


Cary Reeder, a Miami, Florida native, has made Houston, Texas her home since 1996. Working in multi-media including paint, paper, and colored vinyl, and using nature as reference, she is keenly interested in how color impacts emotion, and how light, shadow and space create ephemeral sensory experiences. Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions, and in solos shows at Art League Houston, Mystic Lyon, Galveston Arts Center, Optical Project/Bill’s Junk and Lawndale Art Center. Her sculpture, “Treeodesic Dome” was included in the public art project True North 2021. She is a past recipient of an Individual Artist Grant from the Houston Arts Alliance and her work been featured twice in New American Paintings. She teaches at Art League Houston and works from her studio at Winter Street Studios.

Y. E. Torres (ms. YET) is an interdisciplinary installation artist and specialty entertainer, specializing in performance installations and portraits using fire manipulation. She holds dual BFAs in Drawing & Painting and Fashion Design from the University of North Texas and multiple dance and yoga-based certifications. Torres is an arts educator, movement instructor, and Public Programs and CAMHLAB Manager at Contemporary Art Museum Houston. She has been named one of Houston’s Top 100 Creatives by the Houston Press (2011), inaugurated into the Houston Music and Arts Hall of Fame (2016), and awarded 2nd place for Best of Sideshow Arts at the ABurlQ! Burlesque & Sideshow Spectacular (2019). Torres is also a Flame Effects Operator, licensed by the state of Texas, and an appointed Principal on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Special Effects (SPE-AAA) Committee.
